Bloom's Taxonomy is a tool that classifies levels of intellectual behavior that are important to learning. While the image below only includes the levels of intellectual behavior, most Bloom's Taxonomies also include verbs (behaviors) for each of these levels. Visit to see one such example. Staff and faculty involved in the process of writing learning outcomes are best served by referring to the taxonomy and associated verb banks to pull action-oriented and measurable verbs for their learning outcome statements.
